Right Angle Worm Drive (RA)

When to Use:  Compact situations when a right angle drive is required

Available Ratios:  5:1 through 60:1

Available Power:  ¼ HP through 10 HP

Our Right Angle Worm Drive (RA) gear reducer features hardened and ground worms and aluminum-bronze worm gears for high capacity and longevity.  RA gear boxes are machined and ground to a sanitary #4 finish on all surfaces.  Single, double and hollow bore output shafts are available with right-hand, left-hand and vertical assembly options.

Larger RA gearboxes with vertical output shafts feature our Positive Pressure Lubrication System ensuring that all bearings and gears are well-lubricated even at very low rotational speeds.  Purity FG EP 460 (USDA H1) synthetic lubricant provides exceptional lubrication and extended life performance.  All RA units can be fitted with optional flange mounts with either a standard C-face or customer specified dimensions.

  • Positive displacement pump drives
  • Mixers drives
  • Conveyor drives

Inline Planetary (IL)

When to Use Compact situations, output required to be concentric to motor, and high ratios (low output speeds)

Available Ratios:  3:1 through 25:1 is typical (up to 1000:1 is possible)

Available Power:  ½ HP through 30 HP

Efficient and compact, our Inline Planetary (IL) gear motors feature cast T304 housings with sanitary foot mounts.  Sanitary design is evident in the smooth, cylindrical shape and integral motor interface.  All outer surfaces are fully machined and ground for a superior sanitary finish.  Custom modifications such as a flange or C-face mount or altered shaft dimensions are readily available.  High ratio units feature unique compound gearing to produce very low output speeds with a compact reducer.

IL gear reducers are integrated into our motors and are not sold separately from them.

Typical applications:

  • Positive displacement pump drives  (Foot mounted IL)
  • Tank mounted mixer drives (C-face or flange-mounted IL)

IL650 – IL1275 Gear Motors ½ HP – 30 HP

 

Spiral Bevel (SB)          

When to Use:  High efficiency, quiet operation, right angle drive, low overhead room         

Available Ratios:  1:1 through 4:1

Available Power:  ½ HP through 20 HP

Spiral Bevel (SB) gear reducers provide high efficiency and quiet operation in low ratios.  SB gear motors are built as true gear motors, with the pinion gear mounted directly on a modified motor shaft. SB gear reducers offer excellent efficiency and can be provided with C-face or flange-mount output faces.  Right-hand, left-hand, and vertical assembly options are available. 

  Typical applications:

  • Positive displacement pump drives                                                                                                                                       
  • Tank mounted mixer drives

Spiral Bevel ½ HP – 20 HP

 

Compound Planetary Inline Spiral Bevel (SBT) 

When to Use: High efficiency, quiet operation, right angle drive, low overhead room

Available Output RPM:  9 through 200

Available Power:  5 HP through 40 HP

Compound Planetary Inline Spiral Bevel (SBT) gear motors combine our Inline Planetary (IL) and Spiral Bevel (SB) gear reducers to offer a greater variety of speed reduction than either gearbox alone.  Compact and highly efficient, SBT gear motors are ideal for high ratio, high power applications.

The IL gear reducer mounts directly off of the motor shaft.  The IL shaft then feeds into the SB gear reducer housed in a unique tubular casing.  The tubular housing features smooth, easily cleanable surfaces and is often equipped with a flange or C-face mounting. 

The SBT output shaft is at right angle to the motor shaft and is available as solid or hollow bore with either a vertical or horizontal orientation.    SBT units are made to order allowing OEMs and end users to specify a particular mounting configuration for the best possible integration with new or existing equipment. 

All vertical output shaft models feature our Positive Pressure Lubrication System ensuring that all bearings and gears are well lubricated even at very low rotational speeds.  Purity FG EP 460 (USAD H1) synthetic lubricant provides exceptional lubrication and extended life performance.

Sanifan®

Sanifan® motors offer a patented crevice-free, sanitary design and reduce the risk of hidden contamination under the fan shroud.  

The unique sanitary features of our Sanifan® motors include:

  • Polished crevice-free stainless fan on our Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) models
  • EPDM sanitary fan shroud standoffs
  • Crevice-free fan shroud mounting

Sanifan® motors are available up to 50HP/ 37kW (3 Phase) in both NEMA and IEC Frames.   Single Phase motors are available up to 5HP.

Our standard Sanifan® washdown motors  are patented [U.S. Patent No. 9,197,109 (issued Nov. 24, 2015)], meet NEMA MG1, part 31 for inverter performance, and are recognized by UL under component file #E135744 for the US and Canada.   They are IP66 rated and have a 1.15 service factor with a turndown ratio of 4:1 constant torque and 10:1 variable torque. 

The Sanifan® motor series has replaced our former Food and Pharmaceutical series motors.  Motor models in the Sanifan® series start with the letter "S".  Previous customers who have a motor model starting in "F" (Food) or "P" (Pharmaceutical) may search for a similar Sanifan® model by substituting an "S" for the initial "F" or "P" of the motor model code.  

Motor model codes ending in a three letter code beginning with "O", i.e., "OAB" are motors with special modifications.  These motor models will not be found in our Product Filter, but customers may search for a similar standard motor by eliminating the last three letters from the search.  For a quote on a motor with special modifications, please contact our Sales Department by calling 505-867-0224 or sending an email to info@stainlessmotors.com.

Sanifan PLUS®

Sanifan® PLUS motors, built with an integral spray endbell, are the ultimate addition to an existing Clean-in-Place (CIP) system.  Use our Product Filter to select the water port location and port connection style on the endbell that best meets the needs of your particular application.

Explosion Proof (XP)

Stainless Motors, Inc. manufactures the first washdown duty stainless steel motors approved for use by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in hazardous locations.  Our patented Explosion Proof  (XP) motors [U.S. Patent No. 8,227,947 (issued July 24, 2012)]  are ideally suited for processing applications requiring strict sanitation and washdown tolerance in combination with safety concerns arising from hazardous liquids, vapors or dust.

XP motors, available up to 5HP, are appropriate for use with PWM inverters and yield a 4:1 constant torque and a 10:1 variable torque turndown ratio.  They are approved under UL File #E321578 for the following usage categories:

Class I (Gases, Vapors), Division I:

  • Group C (Acetaldehyde, cyclopropane, diethel ether, ethylene, isoprene )
  • Group D (Acetone, acrylonitrite, ammonia, benzene, butane, ethylene dichloride, gasoline, hexane, methane, methanol, naphtha, propane, propylene, styrene, toluene, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, xylem)

 Class II (Combustible Dusts), Division I:

  • Group F (Carbon black, coke or coal dust)
  • Group G (Flour, starch or grain dust)

Explosion Proof motors are designed to contain an explosion occurring within the motor and to prevent the release of explosive gases or vapors into the exterior surrounding environment.   Our XP motors are capable of enduring an explosion and remaining intact while operating at or over capacity.  The motor is also engineered to maintain a low outer temperature to avoid the ignition of exterior flammables.

Water Cooled/Energy Recovery

Stainless washdown Water Cooled motors reduce energy costs by providing an efficient means for the reduction and reuse of processing waste heat. Four to six percent of an air cooled motor’s input electricity is rejected as waste heat. Motor waste heat causes temperature to rise in the surrounding area adding to the load of a processing facility’s HVAC system. Conversely, a Water Cooled motor does not cause an external temperature rise during its operation.

Water Cooled motors provide additional energy savings. Warm water discharge from a water cooled motor can be used to provide hot water or steam for processing applications.  The stainless steel housing, water passages, and endbells of our Water Cooled motor will not rust or impart corrosion debris to the cooling water.  Water purity and chemistry remains unchanged.   Hot water produced by a Water Cooled motor is potable and suitable for many uses, such as feeding boilers supplying steam to cooking kettles and equipment washdown.

A Water Cooled motor has a reduced long term cost of ownership.  An increase in reliability and service life results from its winding and bearings operating at a uniform and low temperature.  The need for bearing maintenance is reduced as bearings are re-greased from external fittings or continuously supplied with grease via automatic re-greasers.   Excess and waste grease is efficiently removed from the bearings and collected in easily accessible reservoirs.   Optional remote motor condition monitoring may also be provided via internal bearing and winding RTDs. 

Water Cooled motors are available up to 500HP / 375kW and will be designed to meet the needs of your specific application.

FOOT OPTIONS

When a foot mount is necessary, we offer two styles – blind tapped and thru hole mount. The blind tapped foot mount is the most sanitary and easy to clean foot option available. It allows crevice free mounting without exposed hardware. Both styles are sanitary stainless steel and are fully TIG welded to the body.
