Stainless gearboxes
and gearmotors are offered in several designs that cover 95% of applications.
All designs are 100% washdown duty with specific emphasis on cleanability.
Inline Planetary Gearmotors
feature an output shaft that is concentric with the motor input shaft. This
makes for a cylindrical, very aesthetic, compact, and cleanable gearmotor. A
planetary gearmotor may be supplied as foot mounted (typical for driving
positive displacement pumps) or as a C-face or flange-mounted unit, as would
be preferred for such applications as tank mounted mixers. Standard ratios
are between 3:1 to 25:1, but extremely high ratios (1000:1 or more) are
possible as well. Standard features include a #4 line finished T304 stainless
housing, O-ring sealing of the casing, and double-lip Isomag shaft seals.
Right Angle Worm Gearmotors are
selected when a compact, right angle drive is required and the ratio is
between 5:1 and 60:1. Typical applications include positive displacement
pump, mixer, and conveyor drives. Efficiency of worm gearmotors diminishes as
ratio increases. The reduced efficiency results in increasing heat that must
be passed to the surrounding atmosphere. As our gearboxes feature a smooth
exterior surface for excellent cleanability, cooling becomes a limiting
factor in worm gearbox capacity. The mechanical capacity will be
significantly higher than the thermal capacity for the high ratio worm
gearmotors. All ratings linked from the Right Angle Worm Series Page are
based on the thermal (continuous) capacity of the gearbox. Standard design
features include a #4 line finished T304 stainless housing for excellent
cleanability, O-ring sealed bearing covers, and double-lip Isomag shaft
seals.
Spiral Bevel Gearmotors are
selected when the output shaft is to be at a right angle to the input shaft
and the required ratio is between 1:1 and 4:1. They offer excellent
efficiency and can also be furnished with C-face or flange-mount output
faces. Typical applications include positive displacement pump drives and
tank-mounted mixer drives where lower headroom exists. Standard design
features include a #4 line finished T304 stainless housing for excellent
cleanability, O-ring sealed bearing covers, and double-lip Isomag shaft
seals.
Compound Planetary/Spiral Bevel
Gearmotors are a combination of two of our popular gearboxes offering a
greater variety of speed reduction than either gearbox alone. Directly off the motor shaft is our
standard Inline Planetary gearbox.
The shaft of this gearbox is then fed into a Spiral Bevel gearbox,
housed in a unique tubular casing.
The resulting output is at a right angle to the motor shaft. These boxes are offered for motors
between 5 and 30 HP with output RPM ranges between 875 and 23 RPM. Standard design features include a #4
line finished T304 stainless housing for excellent cleanability, O-ring
sealed bearing covers, and double-lip Isomag or engineered teflon shaft
seals. Hollow-bore and solid
shafts are available with this gearmotor.
Any
of our gearboxes may be offered in a compound design to obtain the proper
reduction for your application.
